At Best Guitar Lessons, I am proud of the instruction and service I provide for Phoenix residents. The students tell it like it is!

I have received outstanding instruction and support from Michael Singer. I have been a self taught player who has been trying to break through walls. Michaels instruction is patient, and I have seen fast results, corrected poor habits and seen my technique improve dramatically with only a months worth of lessons, and I am looking forward to where he will take me in the future.

I began taking guitar lessons with Michael Singer in 1999 when I was 13 years old and continued taking lessons for about 3 years. Today, I am a professional musician in the Baltimore/Washington area, performing concerts and completing my doctorate in music.

There is little doubt that if I had to name the most influential person in my career as a musician, it would be Michael. His passion, commitment, and skills as a teacher laid the foundation for everything else that I have done.

He was encouraging but demanding, selfless in his pursuit to help me attain my goals. When I decided that I wanted to do music professionally, he took that seriously and taught me to understand the amount of work that it would require and guided me in that work, both technically and musically. Essentially, he initiated me into the rigorous but wonderful world of professional musicians.

To this day, Michael and I stay in touch. He has never lost interest in what I was doing or where I was and has supported me in every decision I have made. I wouldn’t trade my time with Michael for the world and I couldn’t recommend a better guitar teacher.

I have been going to Michael for about 2 months. I am 54 and since I was a teen-ager, have always wanted to learn how to play the guitar. I came to Mike, very nervous and not knowing what to expect. He put me at ease right away, and has done wonders with me. He knows how fast or slow to go with me. He personalizes each lesson with me. He knows how far to push me and knows when to back off. We have a great time together not only with his teaching me how to play, but just talking about life also. He is a great teacher, and when my Grand-Daughter gets older, he will be teaching her also. Thanks Mike for helping make my dream come true on learning how to play.

I am 30 years old, and just started taking guitar lessons a month ago. I wanted to learn the guitar inside and out, and become the best that I possibly can. I am beyond satisfied with Mike's musical talent, passion, and ability to teach. He clearly is not just a guitar teacher, but also touches your heart. I personally was not just looking for a typical guitar teacher, but someone who would really play a big part in my growth as a musician, and he has done that for me.

I am 29 years old and showed up at Michael’s studio with him not having a clue what I was getting myself or him into. It was 2 weeks before Valentine's Day and I decided to do something very special for my boyfriend. I wanted to learn to play the guitar and sing a song for him on Valentine's Day. With no experience whatsoever, either singing or guitar, this was a challenge for the both of us. When I asked him if he could help me, he said that I was setting the bar extremely high but he was more than willing to do his best to help me achieve my goal. With only a few guitar lessons, I was able to make my boyfriend’s Valentine’s Day very special like I planned. I was so stoked!! Michael was so helpful and patient with this challenge. He was so motivating and encouraged me to really do it. I was still unsure if I could do it. But with his expertise on the guitar, music, and vocals, it all worked out awesome! My boyfriend was amazed and all of my family and friends got to see what I did for him. So here is the video to show you the results. http://youtu.be/yO3MWUkYu6c

Thank you Michael for helping me make this special memory with the love of my life on such a short notice!!! You were an awesome experience and I highly recommend anyone who is looking to accomplish anything musical, big or small, for fun or performance, you are the person to go to!

I am 53 years old and just started guitar lessons with Best Guitar with no prior experience. Michael immediately put me at ease and is very positive and generous with praise and is not negative in any way. He explains what he teaches so that you know the "why" and not just the "what". I look forward to continuing my lessons with Michael and would recommend him to anyone.

I stopped at the 35th Avenue & Northern traffic light I was behind a truck that had the words painted “Best Guitar Lessons” and the phone number.  I already tried 3 previous teachers off and on within the last 10 years and thought it would probably be a waste of my time to make the phone call.  Regardless, I hurriedly wrote the phone number down and hoped I wrote it correctly.  I spent 1 year each with 2 of my previous teachers and never learned how to read a single note.  The third teacher stopped teaching.

Calling Best Guitar was the best thing I did for myself.  Learning music being over 50 plus years old I thought would never happen.  Michael takes his time with you to be sure you understand what you are to practice.  He is a very considerate, polite and perceptive teacher who stays late with me on several occasions never worrying about going over the allotted lesson time.  I have learned to play music and read notes in less than 4 months and still have a long way to go.

I urge anyone looking for a guitar teacher to try Michael Singer.

I'm sure glad I made the phone call.

“Mike is a great instructor! I had been playing primarily rhythm guitar for many years without really understanding why I was playing specific chords. Mike takes the time to explain how the chords are formed and why they work in particular keys. I wanted to learn more about playing lead and Mike began teaching me different scales and picking exercises to train my hands and brain. He uses many different teaching methods and can demonstrate (very well) what he is helping me to learn. Mike is very encouraging and teaches from his vast music/guitar experience. I highly recommend Mike to be your guitar instructor!”

"Hey Man, thanks for helping me find my way, looking back I was floundering with my music, but now I've got an album out, I'm playing shows and writing every second, If I ever become a famous Nashville/Texas songwriter, I've got you to thank man!”

“Mike helped me accelerate my guitar playing within a month. No matter the experience level, genre or knowledge base, Mike will help you achieve goals not previously seen within yourself. His instruction is clear, concise, to the point, and most of all he models his teaching style based on your skill level and technique base. Thanks for your help, Mike!!!”

“I have been exposed to countless instructors in my lifetime while earning my master's degree, teaching and observing my children's teachers. I proclaim Michael Singer as the best at what he does! He is knowledgeable and teaches without intimidating. I had never held a guitar and he taught me how to read notes and have fun. My children are now interested in learning a musical instrument and after experiencing Michael, I would not consider going to anyone else! Absolutely, genuinely and utterly fantastic!”

A note from Michael Singer: “I currently teach four of Alicia's children Piano, Guitar and Percussion.”

“I've been taking lessons with Mike for 19 months and he IS the best teacher I've EVER had. I had 2 prior teachers and did NOT learn anything. I'm a 50 yr. old female and Mike knows how to motivate me, and understands how "I" need to be taught. He is patient, intelligent and I couldn't be happier. I'm looking forward to a few more years of lessons. I'm learning so much. My husband has noticed how far I've come in 18 months.”

"Michael is AMAZING!!!! I turned 40 something last year and decided to take up the bass. My life long dream. I had several options including free lessons from family available to me. After interviewing a few instructors I chose Michael. He is an accomplished artist!!!! Need I say more??? This guy is patient understanding and has a curriculum. We don’t just sit there and slap the bass...We learn... Thats what it is all about....I know my instrument, how to tune it, how to play it... Michael's lessons are an extreme value!!!! Thank you, Michael!”

“Michael takes his music seriously, but never loses his sense of humor. He is always patient and encouraging. I have learned so much in a short amount of time. I would recommend Michael to anyone, young and not so young alike, interested in learning to play guitar or in improving their current skill level.”

“Michael knows his craft and has great teaching skills. Mike is very talented and not only can he play beautifully, he is great at the art of teaching what he knows. He is always enthusiastic and encouraging and my son always looks forward to going to his lessons.”

M. Santel- The Best Guitar Lesson You’ll Ever Have And It’s Free!

“I am 65 and I decided to tackle my lifelong dream to learn to play blues guitar. Off to the internet to search for a guitar teacher. I called at least a dozen. Some were very expensive and wanted the first lesson’s fee up front. Others, when I asked them if I could come every 2 weeks, said “Sure, you can come once a month if you like.” They did not care, they wanted the money. Then I called Best Guitar Lessons & Repair, Michael’s answer was “NO!” Why? “Because if you are doing something wrong for 2 weeks, it’s hard to correct. It’s one hour weekly or nothing.” By the way, he charges less than what most teachers charge for a half hour lesson.

I agreed to the free lesson and I knew I found The BEST GUITAR teacher. Technique and PROPER practice habits are absolutely the key. With great technique you can play any type of music. Michael works on this at every lesson. He just does not say “Do it this way.” He takes the time to tell you why. He is passionate about teaching, his only profession. HE REALLY CARES AND WANTS HIS STUDENT TO EXCEL. Mistakes are part of the process and he corrects them subtlety. He encourages, not discourages. He makes learning FUN. For young students, Michael’s traits go a long way to having them want to practice and go to their lessons.

The BEST part is that no one (including my wife) can believe what I have learned and accomplished in my first 2 months. Taking the FREE lesson was the BEST decision I could have made to find the BEST GUITAR teacher. Whether you are 8 or 80 years old, try it and I know you’ll agree.”

R. Reynolds - Best Guitar Lesson & Repair Review

“I met Mike many years ago working at a guitar shop that was going out of business.
I purchased a Fender acoustic from him. I asked about lessons and he told me that he would be happy to teach me. I was not a novice player, perhaps intermediate, but was self-taught. I knew how to read music, because I played brass all throughout grade school and high school. I played guitar on my own since high school, never taking lessons for over 20 years. I wanted to expand my limited ability and actually learn to play lead guitar parts. I was at a brick wall in my ability.

I proceeded to take lessons from Mike, and found that he had an effective and efficient teaching style. He was able to accelerate teaching by his direct approach. In about six months of lessons I learned what would have taken me 10 years on my own. He is patient, but thorough, and will ensure the lesson is absorbed and can be demonstrated. After awhile, I found myself getting comfortable with the guitar and not at "war" with it constantly. I was surprised at what ability I now had, thanks to Mike's teaching.

He demonstrated this to me at the beginning of one lesson with a recording of some fusion music that included a guitar lead. I said that it sounded good, and he laughed and told me that I played that lead the week earlier. I was shocked! This convinced me that I could play lead and that I was wrong thinking that I couldn't. I knew at that moment I had come a long way!

There has been some time in between then and now, but in reconnecting with Mike after several years, I have discovered that his playing has improved even further. From this, I have total confidence that when he says he has new things to teach me that he's not kidding! I have arranged to take lessons with him again. I'm looking forward to whatever new knowledge he can bestow upon me.

Mike is also an accomplished luthier. I have seen guitars that he has hand built and "basket cases" that required extensive repair that he has put back to new condition. He modified my Fender acoustic guitar, adding a fitted brass nut, split brass compensated saddle (for accurate intonation) and a pickup beneath the saddle. It sounds great and this guitar is truly unique and I still enjoy playing it today. He also has worked on several electric guitars I own, including a brand new Gibson SG Standard. I wanted him to determine that it was correctly set up. I wouldn't give my guitars to anyone else but Mike.

Among all the positive things I can say about Mike is that he also is a very caring individual. It truly reinforces his spirit when he can share his knowledge with others. He has become much more than an instructor to me, and I consider him a friend.”

"I wanted to give a shout out to my guitar teacher...Michael Singer. This guy is a class act and one of the coolest people I've met in AZ thus far. When I finished my bike tour, I was feeling bored. So I decided to pick up my guitar again but quickly realized I needed lessons to make this baby really sing. So I decided to look for a teacher. I did some online searching and came across Michael. What impressed me the most was how quickly he responded to my inquiry. In no time I was in his studio practicing my guitar. His studio is bad ass by the way. I cannot say enough good things about his teaching style and laid back personality. After every lesson, I want to rush home and practice the lessons of the day so I can get back to the studio and learn more. Thanks Michael for what you've taught me in such a short time. I look forward to a long lasting friendship :)"
